I always thought of 2020 as some version of perfect. If you had 20/20 vision, you could see perfectly from both eyes, with no need for spectacles or contacts. Ah, if only the world was so simple, and we all were just perfect and didn’t need any adjusting. As the years have passed, my once 20/20 vision is now corrected by small round membranous semi spheres I pop into my eyes each morning. And it is with GRATITUDE that I accept the changes, and the ability to be resilient. One of my very favorite gifts I gave last year were small pieces of Kintsugi Pottery. Kintsugi is a Japanese practice of repairing fractures or breaks in porcelain pottery or other objects using resin and gold. As the Artist I purchased the pieces from states:

“It follows that breaks and repairs are part of the history of the object and must be shown and not hidden, manifesting its transformation, the scars embellish the object. “

I love applying this philosophy to our own lives, taking trauma and challenges, cruelties and injustices, and NOT letting them break us, but rather make us more beautiful and resilient, with a continued sense of purpose and gratitude.
On that note of change and resilience, it is with great anticipation that we very much look forward to occupying our new space. These blogs must be submitted a month early, so as I am writing this it is February 2nd, but you are reading this in March, and I PRAY we are nested into our new space! Many of you have asked why we are moving, as our past facilities were certainly beautiful, and the practice was successful and thriving. Well, we thrived right out of our allotted space. For 6 years, 5 women (myself and 4 others) have worked in a 12 x 12-foot room, without windows. Our aesthetics area is now so busy, and we have added so many new services, there is no room to place any more equipment. A good problem to have, but one that required a solution. With our new location we will have a dedicated and beautiful space to offer you extended and personal service in the aesthetics area. In the clinic area, we look forward to a more efficient flow, to encourage timeliness. With the check-out and check-in areas now being more closely aligned, you won’t have that long walk through the maze of hallways as you make your way out of the office. With plenty of windows and a décor that reflects my love of nature and open spaces, we hope you too will feel what we feel when we are over there: peace and a sense of healing and spirituality. As I was leaving the new office the other day, I was stopped in my tracks by bird chatter I did not recognize. I backed up a few steps, and sitting side by side on the twisted branch of an oak tree were two beautiful, red hawks. I took this as a wonderful sign that we (staff and patients) will be blessed with good things in 2020. Hoping to share these blessings with you soon!

Happy New Decade!
